What’s the best way to help a homeless person being beat by a police officer?

This is an incident that happened recently in LA, but is similar to the George Floyd’s incident.

I was driving home from Walmart and noticed a homeless man being beat by a police officer. This person was not resisting or fighting back and they were not being combative. The homeless man was being held to the ground while another police officer pinned the homeless person’s head to the ground. The police officers were also trying to knee the homeless person.

Disregarding the fact that police officers do have a job to do and that the homeless person is breaking the law, what’s the best course of action to help someone in this situation?

I did not report this incident because I was in traffic and chicken, but after thinking about it, I realized that I should have done something while I had the chance.

This is a bad answer, but I was scared of a stand your ground law. Even though California does not have a stand your ground law, I was also just in fear. I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

For instance, if George Floyd’s bystanders did not record George Floyd, then there would have been no justice for George Floyd. Exactly how would you help a homeless person being in this situation without breaking the law or being afraid of breaking the law.

This happened in an open and busy street, so a dozen of people were watching, but did nothing.

What’s the best way to help someone in this situation without breaking the law?
