CMV: A wealthy person who gives away all their money should be treated with the same level of respect as a person who risks their life for the sake of others (e.g. first responders, war heroes).

This subject has been discussed in another thread, so I felt like starting a new thread of its own. I think that, as long as the money is going directly towards helping people, I think that the thanks they deserve is equal to that of war heroes. It's exactly that, risking what they're comfortable with.

They're giving up their ability to live comfortably, to travel, to eat out, to do all the things we take for granted thanks to our day jobs. I realize that a lot of wealthy people have to work more to keep the money coming in, but I'm referring more to people who have simply inherited or been given this money, and then given it all away.

So that's my CMV, please feel free to change it.

Edit: I am blown away by the amount of feedback, thank you so much everyone! I'm reading through all of the comments now, and I will endeavour to reply to as many as possible.

Edit 2: Thank you everyone, I've replied to most of the commenters, I have a few left to go through. I'm probably not going to go into the thread again until tomorrow afternoon, as I have a busy morning and will be going to bed quite late tonight. Thank you again to everyone, I've been very happy to engage with you all. Please PM if any of you need to get in touch, otherwise I'll reply to your comments.
