I (a christian) and my 2 roommates (one is Jewish and the other is Christian) are close. I mentioned that one of my professors, a 60-something white man, was recently in a car accident and we are all really worried he won’t survive. But then my Jewish roommate said that one of her professors (a white woman around the same age range) got in a car accident. But then she said that her Jewish classmate (a guy in his 20s) was also in a car accident. She said he was driving and a guy in his 50s (white a-rab looking man) T-boned him at an intersection and put him in the hospital. Now they are looking at footage and trying to identify the guy. I’m sure the police are involved. But my Jewish roommate said they think it was an “intentional attack by the a-rabs” because he had an Israeli flag on his car. The shitty thing is that it was a really loud crash and a lot of people in the building heard it and some ran out to see and said they saw the guy driving away really fast and that he did not stop after hitting the car and that the guy drove away with a busted windshield and that the crash was very loud. So they are attributing all these things to the guy being a monster and a terrorist.

I don’t know I’m just really uncomfortable with all the extremism and "blame the a-rabs mentality". But I am also really sorry that the guy got hurt and put in the hospital. Its wrong for people to attack others like that. But I’m uncomfortable with the vibe it’s creating in our class, with people blaming all a-rabs for one man’s actions, saying “fuck the a-rabs” and shit like that. I don’t know I’m just uncomfortable. I don’t know what to think.

TL;DR my classmates are blaming a-rabs for a car accident and I’m uncomfortable
