Students sit in a room for doing remote school work during lunch. That is the detention room. They will have someone monitor the detention room. Yes, they want me to do it.

Here is the email & I highlighted the concerning text in red

Hi [OP],

We have one more job available for this upcoming school year! The job is called Detention Monitor. In this role, you would be with the students in the detention room from 11am-12pm. During that time, the students in the room will be on their Chromebooks doing asynchronous work. If you are interested in working in this role, please let me know as soon as possible, so that I can get you written up for the job and get you on the payroll.

If you have any questions about the role, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Best,
[AP]

Yes the pay is good. Yes, I sat in the room doing nothing for a whole lunch time last school year. I just sat there, and they literally did nothing but scroll through their phone the whole time.

I was wondering if someone else has experienced this? Why do I need training on how to manage a classroom if I'm just supervising a group of kids doing independent work?
