I saw... something

I wasn’t sure where to post this but it seemed like it would be suitable for this subreddit. This happened in 2019 and I still don’t know what to make of it. <br><br>I was driving home one night and as I was on the highway I saw a figure standing on the sidewalk. As I got closer I realized it was a homeless man. He was pacing back and forth and then he got in my path. (He had no idea I was there, it was dark and he had no street light nearby.) He wasn’t suicidal or anything like that, he literally just had no idea I was there. So I honked my horn at him and scared the shit out of him. He jumped and went on his way. I thought nothing of it and continued on my path. <br><br>I was about 5 miles up the road when I noticed a figure standing on the side of the road again. A mile later I noticed another. I figured these were just homeless people but the more I saw the odder it seemed. <br><br>I saw well over 100 people standing along the road. I drove 15 miles... it was around 100-150 people as I counted. There were men, women, and even children. Some were homeless, some looked like they had jobs, some looked like they had families. <br><br>But here’s the thing, none of them seemed to know I was there. Only one other person jumped when I honked at them but they all seemed oblivious to my presence.<br><br>The oddest part of it all was that I saw this:<br><br>A mother and son stood on the sidewalk. The mother was caressing the sons hair and talking to him. The son looked about 12 years old. I barely saw them before I was gone. I saw hundreds of people that night and I wonder what ever happened to them. I wonder if they’re still standing there. I wonder if they’re okay. <br><br>I wonder what they are.
