I just moved to DC from Colorado (the most un-DC place you'll ever see), and I had no idea how much Trump actually affects people's lives. I took two rideshares tonight (I'm definitely buying another car, I will never get used to Uber), and both drivers were from Kenya (the second one was more from there than the first lol). They both told me about how their families couldn't come into the United States now because of the Muslim ban, and how it felt like the US was more against them now.

Then I got home from the bar at 1:00 AM, and my neighbor from down the street saw me, and his first comment was "Here for the inauguration?"

I said yes, and he said "Well, you're in a pretty safe neighborhood. Just watch yourself down by the White House. It's bad down there."

I said "Oh, what's going on?"

And he said "You know, he's a racist. A lot of people here don't like him."

....I had no idea how bad this actually was. I'm just someone from a conservative county in a conservative state live a conservative life (first time I saw a black guy in my life was when I was 9 years old). I mean, I felt like the rest of you here, bad, but wow. Trump really is bringing this country down. The people of DC actually seem nice, except they have this feeling of fear right now.

I don't know, as someone who's oblivious to how Trump's effects are affecting people who aren't white, it just feels really weird to me to see it in person. I hope our country will heal when Trump is gone. If he is ever gone.
