How to lay low without losing the battle

One of my friends shared this on his wall:

“Tried and true advice from an old witch who, like many of you, is feeling awfully anxious in the face of the ongoing coup:

1) If you find yourself saying, But I'm not mad, I'm just worried, declare yourself mad. That is how you know you are mad.

2) You may feel that your mad is not a big mad. You may feel that it does no good. Your mad is what we want. Your mad is what we need. Your mad is the only thing that will get us through this.

3) If you find yourself saying, I don't know what to do, accept that that is just something we say. Every single one of us knows *exactly* what to do. We know *exactly* how to create change. You know how to create change. Do those things.

4) If, like me, you are finding yourself turning inward, turning away, turning your thoughts to happier times and places, turn around. Come back to us. We need you.

5) If you find yourself consumed with thoughts of death, change those thoughts to life.

6) If you find yourself wondering, but what about so and so who is on the other side, make that person an Other. Not a friend, not a cousin, not a colleague, not a neighbor. An Other. And then remember where you live, where your children live, who you love, and why you love them. Protect us, protect yourself, from the Others.

7) If you find yourself feeling that it's all just so awful that you need to lay low so you can survive, remember that doing nothing is not a choice. Doing nothing *is* a choice. It is a choice to let the Others win.

8) If you find yourself thinking that it's all just so awful that you need to lay low so you can survive, remember that survival is not winning. Survival is just not losing. Our children deserve to win.

9) Our children deserve to win big. Our children deserve a world that is more just, more kind, more gentle, more clean, more loving, and more peaceful than any world we've ever known. No matter where you live, no matter who you are, all of our children deserve exactly the same things.

10) Whenever you can, choose to lay low and win. Lay low like a mole, a badger, a snake, or a bear. Lay low like a virus. Lay low like a garden, like a forest, like a swamp, like a field. Lay low like a storm, like a forest fire, like a landslide, like an avalanche. Lay low, go deep, and charge with everything you have for precisely the right moment to burst forth from your hiding place and charge, claws out, straight for the Others’ jugular. We will need every single one of us. We will need every single one of you. Please, please, please don't disappoint us.”

It’s time to put your money where your mouth is. Let’s do this.

Edit: I want to clarify that the lay low and win is not the same as do nothing. It is putting your energy into the things that count. And it is knowing what your strengths and weaknesses are. And it is putting every bit of your energy into the places where it will do the most good.
