Has anyone else noticed how much men have been glorifying debt to the point of making it into a status symbol to be celebrated?

It's absolutely insane. It's about women / young people to be in debt than ever before, and the media has stopped talking about it. Now debt is just the norm. Everyone is in debt, and people aren't afraid to brag about their debt! They just throw out numbers like "Oh i have 700k in debt and I'm going to live a great adventurous life." I've seen this before, in third world countries, but I didn't expect it to happen in the US.

It's not just that. It's the fact that the stigma around debt is gone! There used to be a shame, a stigma around taking debt, but now its just normal. And that's what bothers me. If you have to take out debt, to live your life, what the hell is going on with society? And on top of that, banks just talk out of both sides of their mouths. They will tell you on one side to avoid debt, but they also send out offers for higher credit limits all the time.

The entire idea is to push people into debt, by making them normalize it, and then they can use that debt to justify low wages, etc. Because two decades ago, people were brave enough to fight for being paid a living wage. But now they are so busy paying off their debt to even try to fight it. And it's working. Just look at how much people or afraid to talk about wages, how afraid they are to want to fight for better treatment. It's getting to a point where people will not be able to afford medical bills, rent, food, and other necessities, but they will sure be able to afford a higher credit limit.

And the entire student loan debacle. I know the student loan debt forgiveness plan was just blocked recently, I hope it was only temporary, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was too.

If you want the poor to stay poor, give them a way to pretend they are not poor. It's brutal.
