"My son was safe inside the apartment, don't worry about it."

I live in an 8-story building in a relatively safe neighborhood in Kyiv. My apartment is on the 4th floor on the rear side (facing a large, fenced-in backyard), and our building has 3 staircases (front, rear, and rear emergency exit, which is currently locked).

When I was about 6 or 7 (born in early 2001), I was playing outside, riding my bicycle off a ramp made from a stack of wood blocks in our backyard. As it started getting dark, my mom called me to come in.

I rode my bicycle to the front stairs to ride it up to our floor. It was ~6 o'clock PM, and people were coming back from work, riding the elevator. I thought it'd be a cool idea to try and ride the elevator with my bicycle, so when the elevator doors opened, I rolled it inside and stepped in.

A man stepped in right behind me, and we were the only two in the elevator. He was tall, with a lean build, wearing jeans and a dirty tank top, and black hair hanging above his shoulders. He looked like the typical "hooligan" type, who'd steal purses and pick locks in the neighborhood.

As we rode, he asked me where I lived, and I said I lived on the 4th floor (I think it was 40 or something; I don't remember what number exactly).

He asked, "Have you seen me before?" I said, "No."

Then he said, "But I've seen you for a month now."

He pressed the "stop" button on the elevator (I didn't know this was possible at the time), and the elevator jolted to a halt between floors.

He said, "You shouldn't be out here by yourself. You're very nice. Come downstairs and let's take a walk."

I remember getting this weird, fuzzy feeling in my head, and I said, "Eh, no. I don't know."

He said something like, "I'm not going to do anything bad to you. You're very nice. You're even prettier than my daughter."

Then I started whining, "I want to go home. I want to go home."

I was a very shy and timid kid back then (I've always been shy), and I still remember that I was so *scared* that if I started crying or making too much noise, he'd cover my mouth.

He was standing right next to me, and I was standing near the buttons on the wall, near the door, still holding onto my bicycle. I kept looking up at him, and he'd smile back at me.

He started getting closer, and I knew I had to do something. I was preparing myself for the worst. I'd heard about people running into problems like this, but I never thought it would happen to me.

When he was close enough, I swung my knee up into his balls as hard as I could, and he doubled over yelling, "Blyat!"

I pressed every button on the elevator, and it stopped at the next floor. The doors opened, and I rolled my bicycle out.

I was standing outside the elevator, watching as the doors closed. I saw him grin and wave at me through the closing doors, and I ran down the hallway to the rear staircase and up to my floor, and didn't stop running until I reached the safety of my apartment.

I didn't think anything of this at the time. I was just glad to be home, and I didn't want to think about it anymore. My mom asked me where I came from, and I said through the rear stairs, and she was surprised because I still had my bicycle with me.

When I grew older and started thinking about the experience again, I realized that if I hadn't gotten away, it could have ended very, very badly for me. He could've taken me downstairs and done anything to me, and nobody would've known.

So let's not meet again, guy who wanted to abduct and *probably* molest me when I was 6 or 7 years old.

Edit: Holy shit, this blew up. Thanks for platinum, kind stranger :)
