AITA for telling my gf to die in a ditch?

I havent been in a lot of relationships, but it's clear that my girlfriend is a snowflake. She's a good girl, and when we were first together, it was a lot of fun. Just spent her birthday with her, and here's what happened that led me to this post.<br><br>We were at a rest stop, and I was in the bathroom. There was a very drunk and very irritated woman there. She came up to me and asked "Are you with that girl? Why do you let her wear those clothes? You should let her know she's fat and ugly." She was wearing a sundress that showed a bit of her shoulders and her stomach. She's not a skinny girl, but she's not in danger or anything like all the comments are saying. She left the bathroom, and went to look at herself in the mirror and then she came back and told me what the lady said to her, and started crying. I hugged her and told her that she's beautiful. Then I told her, that lady has been all around the country, but tonight she's going to die in a ditch. My girlfriend was upset I said that. I feel like she was overreacting to whatever I said. I dont see how I was the asshole. I was just trying to make an excuse for her.<br><br>I should add that after we left the rest stop, that lady did indeed die in a ditch. Not sure what happened, but she was in an accident.
