European Mall Security

I’m a US citizen who used to work in loss prevention in a mall back in the early 2000s. 20 years later I’m visiting my relative in Europe and I went to the local mall to look around.<br><br>Upon walking in I immediately notice the lack of security cameras and no one is walking around in security uniforms. I visited a few shops and no one seemed to be paying attention to the doors at all. Some shops didn’t even have any employees near the door and just working at the cash registers.<br><br>I’m curious as to the number of people who shoplift there. Is it a lot worse than the US?<br><br>I felt like I could easily walk out with anything without anyone even noticing. It was very weird experience for me.
