How did the definition of “sentience” change these past few months?

I’m aware that sentience is a complex topic, however in the last few months, I’ve been hearing the term definition changed amongst a large amount of these AI content creators. I’ve always thought sentience to mean being alive, conscious, and having a soul. I’m not sure how those definitions changed these past few months but it’s rubbish. Sentience has always been about being alive and having a soul. It’s not “just an idea”, it’s the truth. AI’s are not alive. AI’s will never be alive.
