What would be the effects of making your world’s only ocean somehow sentient?

This is a fun question that I came across while listening to a Joe Rogan podcast from a few months ago, featuring a guest named, Cullen Smith.<br><br>Cullen made a call to action for people to visualize the world's oceans as a single sentient being. Essentially, it’s as if the ocean is a massive animal that we’ve been abusive to, as a species. This is something that may have already been done in a “Dungeons and Dragons” campaign or something, but I’m not sure.<br><br>So what would be the effects of the ocean becoming “conscious?” Not just intelligent, or aware of its surroundings, but to the point where it has its own preferences and agendas.<br><br>How would that change our relationship with the ocean? How would the ocean itself change?
