Sony has launched a smart lock and door camera system for homes

It will be the Japanese tech giant's first smart lock in Europe, and a move into smart home security devices.<br><br>According to Sony, the kit is being sold as a self-install home security system. It includes a smart lock and a door camera that can be controlled remotely using an app.<br><br>The system should work with Amazon's Alexa and Google Home smart home assistants, but there's no word on Apple HomeKit compatibility yet.<br><br>The company says the smart lock can automatically open or close when someone tries to enter the home.<br><br>The home security system will be available in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Poland, Czechia and the Netherlands. Prices have not been announced.<br><br>Sony has recently expanded into artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, developing software for cars and recently launching a humanoid robot that can dance and play soccer.<br><br>This release demonstrates Sony's efforts to diversify its portfolio beyond gaming and electronics as it continues to compete with rival electronics companies including Samsung and Apple in the technology market.
