I’m a flight attendant. I have some things to tell you.

I’m a flight attendant with a major US airline. I’m not identifying my airline, because I don’t want to get in trouble due to the things I may say here. Just put it this way, we are one of the big three. I’m also ommiting some details to protect my identity. I also may add some stuff tomorrow, but I need to go to sleep. I’m only 26 and have 11 years in the industry, so I’ve seen a lot of things and answers a lot of questions you all have. I’ve also worked in baggage service and as a customer service representative.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>1. Do not try to sneak on extra bags. It’s not worth it honestly. Just pay for it. If you get caught, you’re aren’t special and we won’t let you bring it back. Your best bet is to wear everything you can, have your bags weigh as little as possible, and hope that no one is checking. Don’t be that person that holds up everyone else. Also, to all the people that are older than 10 and use a cart, you are a embarrassment to humanity and should be ashamed. If you can’t carry it, don’t bring it. Ship it. <br><br>2. If you have to get a cart, don’t stop in the middle of the hall way to have a conversation. This also goes for people with the rotund bodies. You are in everyone else’s way. Go to the side. <br><br>3. Don’t ask for a refund for a delay. You aren’t getting one. Act like an adult and accept it. The airline will not refund you because the plane was late. It just isn’t happening. Don’t throw a hissy fit. Also, accept you aren’t getting compensated for being delayed. It won’t happen. <br><br>4. Don’t try to sneak on to a plane. Don’t try to use someone else’s boarding pass. No, you can’t say you’re a minor and try to use your older siblings pass. Yes, we will stop you. Yes, we will call the police. Yes, you will be put into a room at security and miss your flight and probably get put on the no fly list. Yes, it’s that bad. You’re not special. Just pay to change your ticket. It’s cheaper than a miss and rebuy. <br><br>5. Don’t call me aside while boarding to ask to upgraded. I’m busy. I don’t care if it’s your birthday. Business doesn’t get upgraded into first unless the captain is in the seat. <br><br>6. Don’t try to sneak into first class. Don’t try to use the first class bathroom. Don’t even try to look into first class. You will be called out and announced and everyone will know you’re cheap and trying to get something you didn’t pay for. <br><br>7. I don’t care that you’re a platinum, double diamond, ultra libertyTOR with 5 million miles. You’re nothing but a number to me, just like everyone else. Don’t try to use “do you know who I am?” On me. I don’t care. You’re treated exactly like everyone else. Don’t try to use your status to get free drinks or upgrades. I can care less. It’s not my fault you’re in Y. <br><br>8. You can bring your pet in a carrier on the plane. It is not a handicap and you need to prove it. If you walk it through airport, it’s not getting to claim it’s an emotional support animal. It’s a pet. <br><br>9. If you get to your gate and it says it’s closed, but you see people still getting on the plane, it’s not because they are letting everyone on the plane still. It’s because the agents are approving people that are met by the captain or a flight attendant at the door in the jetway. The gate agent doesn’t decide who gets on the plane. The captain does. <br><br>10. Don’t. Try. To. Sneak. On. The. Plane. Against. The. Will. Of. The. Captain. They. Will. Call. The. Cops. On. You. They. Will. Arrest. You. They. Will. Put. You. On. The. No. Fly. List. Don’t. Try. It. <br><br>11. If you are taking a connecting flight, don’t show up to gate 5 minutes before it’s supposed to leave. The agents don’t care if you’re there, it doesn’t matter to them. If you want on the flight, be there 10-15 minutes beforehand. Don’t expect the plane to wait for you. It won’t. Don’t knock on the cockpit door while we are getting readings to depart. I will not let you in. <br><br>12. Airlines control the agents and ground crew at hubs. They don’t control the people who work at every airport. Your airport may let you do something where their main hub doesn’t. I can’t control that. <br><br>13. Airlines don’t control the departures/arrivals board. It’s put on an app and it controls itself. Sometimes it’s wrong. It happens. The agents can’t fix it and it doesn’t help to stare at the board like it will change. <br><br>14. If the agent tells you to talk to the customer service people in the terminal, it’s not because we are lazy. It’s because we don’t have the authority to help you. It’s just how it is. Accept it and go to the desk. <br><br>15. If you get to your gate after boarding has started and the agent working the gate isn’t there, don’t just walk down the jetway. WAIT FOR THEM TO GET BACK. Don’t surprise the flight crew by just walking up to door. They don’t expect to see another person walking up. It’s scary. Just wait where everyone else is boarding from. <br><br>16. Don’t try to talk to the flight crew at the door. We are busy. We have a million things on our mind. We are preoccupied with the safety of everyone on the aircraft. Don’t try to talk about your vacation, or your job, or anything else while we are doing our checks and pre occupied. We won’t even hear you. I’m not going to sugar coat it, but we don’t care what you have to say. <br><br>17. I don’t care if you can’t afford to fly and you need to get somewhere. I don’t care if you’re sad, or scared, or nervous. I care about one thing. Getting everyone on this plane safely to where they need to go. That’s it. You’re not special. You’re nothing but a seat number. <br><br>18. Don’t ask me a question you can easily look up on Google. I’m busy and don’t care enough to answer it. <br><br>19. I don’t care if you’re hungry. I haven’t eaten in 12 hours, I’m fine. Accept it and don’t throw a hissy fit. <br><br>20. I don’t care if you can’t walk up and down the stairs. You made the choice to do this to your body. You should have thought about that before you let your body get this big. Don’t expect everyone else to deal with your problems. <br><br>21. If you can’t walk up and down the stairs, don’t try to bring your carry on up and down the stairs. It’s not worth it. Bring it on the ramp in your car. <br><br>22. I don’t care if you’re tired. I haven’t slept in three days and I still have 12 hours until I get to go to my bed. <br><br>23. Don’t throw trash on the floor. Don’t leave it in the seat. Don;t overflow the trash bags. You’re not the only person on the plane. Don’t leave your gross ass strawberry yogurt and spill it on the seat. I have to sit there. <br><br>I’ll add more later but I’m tired and need to go to sleep.
