Why did Google have to kill Gemini?

It already had Bard for making money off of the tech, it could have released Gemini as a free publicly accessible version. It was "vulnerable", but it was starting to shape up for people.<br><br>Where will people go to now for this? ChatGPT and Claude exist but they aren't free and are pretty expensive. Perplexity was also shut down for being too good.
