I don't wanna hear it. The gop should have, I mean, we all should have, plucked this weed when there was still time to do so without destroying the fabric of American society.

No one gets to say they didn't see this coming. No, anyone can vote for a candidate that expresses controversial or unconventional political views, and that's perfectly fine.

However, when it was clear that he was destabilizing the political system, he should have been held accountable. When his campaign was marked by racist statements against non-white immigrants, anyone who still believed in him was totally complicit in that rhetoric. When he was saying that he'd like to punch protesters in the face, we should have collectively said- "No, not this man. This is not the president, I want."

And yet, we all stood idly by, never imagined that it would come to this.

Now, our very system of government is under threat. This is no joke anymore. The gop is not just an opposition party. They are actively working to undermine the democratic process, and a democracy is not a democracy when the opposition party works to undermine the election process, works to undermine democracy. We are not a democracy anymore. We are now a system of government in which one man decides what is true, and if you disagree, you are going to jail.

This is not the country our founders, or even our parents, imagined. And yet, it is now our reality.

So, I say, why did we wait? Why did we wait until the election, to matter, until the last moment there was something we could have done, to stand up against trump. Why did we not act? Why are we acting now? Because in case anyone in Congress has not figured it out, the time for politics is over. The time for action is now. Subpoena Trump, and if he doesn't comply, arrest him.
