I have struggled to understand the concept of 3rd person experience. Is there a difference between from the perspective of a subject and an object?

For example:

3rd-person perspective: "John designed the book." Here the viewer is defferent from the subject, with the viewer adopting the role of others looking onto John.

1st-person perspective: "I designed the book." Here the viewer and subject are the same. He is describing himself.

Is there any truth that from the 1st-person perpective that something about the experience is essentially different from the 3rd-person perspective?
