My (28F) boyfriend (30M) of 18 months said he doesn’t see us ending up together. How do I salvage this?

My boyfriend and I were sitting on our couch last night and somehow we got on to the topic of what we expect in life. He said he doesn’t see us ending up together. <br><br>I was really shocked and hurt by this. I told him he should tell me why. He said it’s because he can’t see us having kids together. I asked if that’s because of his opinion of me as a mother? And he said yes. I asked what he pictures me as a mother and he said very overbearing like my mother. <br><br>I told him that’s crazy and I think he’s thought about this for a while. He said he just thought about it in the moment. I said there’s no way you just thought about this now; you’ve clearly been thinking about this. I asked when he realized this and he said maybe a few weeks ago. I asked him why he hasn’t said anything about this. He said he didn’t want to hurt my feelings. I said by not bringing it up, you’ve made it so I don’t know how to get over this. He said I should have asked him more questions.<br><br>I told him I don’t think we should be in a relationship if he doesn’t think I’d be a good mother. He said I don’t think you’d be a bad mother but I just don’t picture us together. I asked if I could try to change and prove I am a good mother. He said yes and he’s happy to stay in the relationship but also said he won’t ever see us together. <br><br>I’m really heartbroken right now. We live together. How can I salvage this from here?
