He asked me to get off his lawn.

I was bored and walking around the neighborhood when I saw a man who was about 80 water his lawn. The sprinklers weren't working, so he had to do it with a hose.

After a few minutes, I noticed he had a hard time holding the hose and watering his lawn at the same time. He probably wouldn't have been able to hold up for much longer. I walked up to him and held the hose for him for about 30 minutes. We talked and got to know each other a bit. Turns out he's a widower who lives alone. When he said he probably wouldn't be able to get a new sprinkler system tomorrow, I offered to hold the hose for him every night for as long as it takes. He was really thankful.

Yesterday, we talked about things we like and dislike, and what we did before we retired. I asked him what he would do when he gets a new sprinkler, and he said he'd probably ask me to get off his lawn. I said it was only fair, that I'd ask him to get off mine if he ever came to my house.

But I don't have a lawn. I'm homeless.
