New Principal and I’m so frustrated

I’m a second year teacher at the same school that I completed my student teaching at, and I had the most amazing cooperating teacher that was also the principal for the grades K-2. She was a rubiks cube leader, her door was literally always open and she cared about the kids, teachers, parents, and janitors. Honestly this woman made everyone feel loved and she had this aura of peace and confidence that just made you feel like you were doing a good job, and you wanted to do better for her and for the kids. I always thought how difficult it must be if you weren’t a people person to be a principal, but she was the best. I’m not sure why but the district decided not to renew her contract, and I’m sure she was fed up with them anyway. She was very active in the union and always spoke up for what was right, even if it wasn’t a popular opinion.

So now we have a “new principal” which is really the former superintendent of the district who is “coming out of retirement”. This guy cares about one thing, test scores. So now we have all these new initiatives that he wants us to do, and they are all on a computer program that is so clunky and buggy, it’s honestly something from the 90’s. He’s saying he wants to have his door open, yet he’s never in his office. He’s always in these secret meetings at the district office. And if he does happen to walk by your room and pops his head in, he always has something negative to say. I’ve been written up for things that I didn’t do, like not having my grades up to date and my lesson plans not being turned in, even though I turned them in, and I have an email confirming that. I’m just so frustrated with the whole system, and I don’t know what to do. I know I’m not alone, but it feels like I am, and it’s just really hard.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with a new principal that was just not good? How did you handle it?

Tl;DR: Had an amazing principal that cared about people, and now I have a principal that only cares about test scores and is just a very rude man. I’m frustrated and wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
