Howdy worldbuilders.

I’ve been here for a few months now, updating my imaginary world and its lore. It’s been great so far, and I’ve really enjoyed it.

That said, I’ve always felt like a kid attempting to join the adults for dinner at the long table.

I don’t draw or paint, nor do I have any great artistic talent, so my world looks like absolute crap if I print it out.

I don’t have professional training in writing, but I’m trying to build a compelling narrative and characters.

I don’t have a degree in geography or cartography, but I’ve managed to create a pretty realistic and diverse world.

I’m not a linguist, but I’ve got six languages fleshed out at this point.

I’m not a historian, but I’ve written out the timeline of history for my world from 4000 BCE to 1900 CE.

I’m not an expert in most of the things I need to know for this world, and I’ve always felt like most of you are infinitely more qualified and talented than I am.

I do love this, though. Worldbuilding is so addictive, and I just want to keep going and learning and improving. It’s so much fun.

That said, I’ve always felt like the hobbyist in a room of experts.

What do you think? Do any of you also feel this way?

Do you think it’s okay to be an amateur, or do you think most jobs require professional training?

Do you think I’m an embarrassment to this community?

Do you think I should stop worldbuilding because I’m not good enough?

Please let me know. I’ve always been a bit insecure about this, and I’d love to hear what you think.

Thanks for reading!
