CMV: Children should not be allowed to shift their sleeping schedules at night.

Hello everyone. My family and I have been having a problem for the past few days, so I thought it worthwhile to see what people in the internet have to say. So here's my view:

My nephew has recently had the ability to unhook his baby gate thing (I forget what it's called) and go downstairs to my brother's room. He only does this at night, and it is a huge distraction for my brother. He has to go to work every day, and he needs a good nights rest. He has tried multiple ways to keep my nephew from going all the way downstairs, but nothing has worked. But, my sister-in-law doesn't want to punish my nephew because she thinks it's important to learn how to maintain a good sleep schedule. She isn't worried about my brother's lack of sleep, because she believes that it isn't her concern. I think my nephew going down to my brother's room has nothing to do with my brother's job, and she has the ability and duty to teach my nephew not to go down there. So I think she should be the one to deal with him, not my brother, because she is my nephew's mother and my brother has work to go to.

So, please change my view on this.

Edit: I was careless with the title, but I meant that my nephew should be stopped from shifting his schedule, not children in general. I apologize for my mistake with the title.
