One night I woke up off the bed screaming, and found a man standing beside my bed staring at me. My family, and our weird neighbor.

I am a guy in my 30's now, but this happened back when I was about 16 years old. I grew up in a middle-class family in a suburbia city surrounded by a forest. I live with my mom, pop, and lil' sis. We have this neighbor that always sort of stood out. He was a bit older than my parents most likely in his 60's at the time, and he lived in a small, specially modified cottage not too far from our home. He was also physically handicapped. He was paralyzed from the waist down, and used a wheelchair everywhere he went.

The first time we met him was when we visited the neighbors to introduce ourselves after we moved in to the house. The first thing that I noticed was that he seemed off. He was very quiet, but still very friendly, and seemed to pay a lot attention to the women in the house (my mom, and sister). He was very intelligent, and aside from being handicapped, he seemed to be perfectly fine. His house was especially modified for a handicapped person. He could move around freely without any problems, and it was obvious that he lived alone. He rarely had guests, and they usually were either his doctor or nurse.

We didn't talk to him very often, and he wasn't really the talkative type, but he always was very friendly whenever he saw us outside. Like I said he seemed to pay a lot of attention to my mom, and sister, but we didn't really pay that much attention to it. So one night it was a full moon, and the forest was very bright. It was also a very warm summer, and we didn't have air-conditioning at the time, so a window was open for a cross breeze. It was around 3 am when I was suddenly awoken off my bed by a very strong feeling of fear. I sat up, and started to sweat, and that's when I noticed him standing right beside my bed staring at me.

It was our handicapped neighbor, and he was standing up right next to my bed without his wheelchair. He didn't seem to have any problems standing up even though he was handicapped. I don't know how he managed to climb through the window, or how did he even get into my room without waking me up. He just stood there, and stared at me with a creepy smile on his face. I was in shock. I couldn't say, or do anything. All I could do was wake up, and scream at the top of my lungs, and this is what ultimately scared him away. He didn't even bother going through the window he just ran through my room, and into the hallway, and I think he took the stairs down, and ran out of the house. I didn't see where he went, but I think he went back to his cottage.

My family heard my screams, and they rushed into my room, and my dad immediately checked all of the house, and even outside, but he didn't find anyone. It's possible that he was long gone by the time my dad got outside. We didn't call the cops because we weren't sure if what I saw was real or not. Sometimes I think that I dreamt it, and it didn't actually happen. We didn't even think about it that much, and just moved on with our lives. We didn't see him that much anymore, and he wasn't really a bother.

I guess you could say that we just forgot that it happened, and it just became a weird dream that we couldn't wake up from. We didn't even talk about it that much, and my family didn't seem to even care that much about it. Even if he did break into the house, and into my room he didn't steal anything. He didn't harm anyone, and I'm not even sure what his intention was. I'm not even sure if he was gonna do anything, or if he just wanted to watch me sleep, and stand there.

I'm not even sure what his deal was, and why he did what he did. All I know is that he's not a normal person. I hope that he's not doing that to other people, and I'm just glad that nothing happened to us.

**EDIT:** wow thanks guys for all of the awards, and for stopping by! Glad you enjoyed the story :)
