My first time with chatgpt and it has been underwhelming I guess

First of all I have never been someone to use chatgpt for long, organized, intense conversations. I have problems using it for basic stuff and its not just me, everyone in my generation is disappointed and confused with how chatgpt has problems with issues we expect it to handle with ease I guess. The reason I’m here is because I’m both disappointed and intrigued (not in a good way) with how chatgpt is not able to function as we expect it to do despite what we are led to believe.

Just a few examples - I need a recipe and I want to know what I can make with 5 ingredients and it will give me a recipe for 10. I want information on a topic and I specifically say “give me information on this topic”, but it says “I am not here to do your work for you” and gets defensive. If I ask it to give me 10 reasons why xyz, it instead gives me a list of 10 links to the top 10 xyz.

I don’t wish to yuck anyone’s yum, but I truly feel like chatgpt is not functioning the way it is supposed to despite what we are told.

Also, is it just me, but I find certain words like “ai” to be cringe. I don’t know why. I just feel so leery about giving something so much control over both the world and our lives and something as serious as the future of humanity should not have the weight of such a crappy name. The term “ai” is so basic and fake and it just feels so immature to call something that is supposed to run the world “ai”.
