When will we (as a society) start caring about aging (chronic) diseases

I may have posted this in the wrong place, if so, please let me know. But I dont understand how old age, and the diseases it brings is not a top priority. I am not arguing that diseases and health issues like cancer etc are not important. But I just dont (and have never) understood why old age/and the suffering that comes with it (chronic diseases) is not at the top of the list for priority.

I understand cancer has some light at the end of the tunnel, but we all still know we have to deal with getting old. It sucks. It sucks when your body starts to degenerate and you start to lose your body slowly. It is like (imo) your body is betraying you for no reason, besides you are old. You lose your health, your strength, and eventually you are no longer who you were. Its a hell of a way to end. I do (imo) think that view has changed through the years of what is old/being old. When I was a kid, you used to be considered "old" at 60. Now you are not until like 80. Your prime years all start later and later. I do (imo) think that if we dont end up figuring out how to cure cancer, that if we could find a cure to end aging, you wouldnt need to worry about cancer. Aging is the root of all chronic diseases. If you could cure aging, then your body has the ability to heal faster. This I just dont understand. I dont understand why there is not more emphasis on curing aging, rather than (imo) putting band aids on the causes of aging.

Anyways. Thanks for reading.

Edit: Some of you are making this political...it is not.
