Hi all, I'm having a bit of a crisis and I'm looking for reassurance/advice. I've been a 4th grade teacher for 10 years and I've never done something like this before.

I was texting my best friend and I accidentally sent the message to parents in the group chat with the grade level info. It's a group chat for about 40 parents. We were discussing a situation where I had to tell a student that he is very smart but his ability to turn in his work is hindering his grades. I messaged my friend something along the lines of: "but omfg he's so lazy."

Judge me if you will, that's not the point. I saw the message had sent to parents and I have been told you can't delete group chats sent to parents so I gave the parents an apology and an explanation.

I've never done this before and I'm mortified. I've never gotten a complaint about my teaching or my communication with parents. I'm so upset. Any thoughts?
