Why I stopped being vegan

I’ve been vegan for 3.5 years. The reason why I stopped being vegan is because I’ve found out that part of the milk/flesh supply chain is necessary to keep the ecosystem alive. For example cows need to be transported to different pastures to keep the land thriving. There’s lots of examples of this especially with chickens and how their poop is needed to keep the ecosystem thriving.

I know you can say that we can do it in a more humane way by just transporting the animals without killing them. But I feel like that sounds too good to be true, sounds like a utopian thing. It would be lovely, but I don’t think it would work in the real world.

Also I read this quote from a book that made me stop being vegan “We should be tolerating all suffering, that a world with no suffering would be a world with no flourishing”

The best example of this is the way that fires are necessary for some ecosystems to thrive. There’s a few plants that grow their seeds based on fire. So fires are necessary for these plants to grow. But we as human beings don’t want fires to happen because we know that they can be painful for animals and cause suffering. But we should tolerate this suffering if it means ecosystems thriving.

I would also like to add I’m not for factory farming and how it causes a lot of suffering. Just the better humane way of raising animals.

I’ve had people say to me “oh you’re a hypocrite you’re not doing it for the right reasons, your doing it because you want to eat cheese again”. But when you let your personal superstition cloud your judgment. It’s impossible to have a proper conversation, they won’t listen to you and just say that your wrong. It’s horrible because I feel like I’ve been wrong for years for following this strict diet.

edit: I also want to say I’m not attacking any vegans or people who follow any other strict diets. I’m not saying what I believe in is right or wrong, I’m just saying why I’ve personally stopped being vegan.
