The philosophy of memes: Is it possible to create a philosophy about memes?

I wonder if it is possible to create a philosophy about memes as I see memes as a way to do a 'thought experiment' and show the actual state of the world. Memes are often humorous and can be very sarcastic but, it gives me a good idea of what people think and how people see the world. Memes are everywhere and it gives a lot of insight into what is happening in the world. Memes can be a way to connect people and give people something to talk about. Does anyone know of any philosphy around this topic?
