App idea: An app that always autoplays at 10% volume, and you can’t alter that volume in the app or system settings. Also, the app is very quirky and always breaking. But, in some situations, it’s very suitable. For this reason, it has plenty of uses despite its flaws.

I’m not sure what this app should do, but I know it needs to exist, flaws and all. I’m imagining this app has a lot of interesting and useful features. It can make your phone do tons of things. But, it always breaks. Once, I gave a presentation in front of 150 students, staff, and family, and the app crashed twice in the first three minutes. A third of the way through the presentation, I had to abandon it entirely and quickly set up its competitor, which was far more boring. But, it won’t crash, and that’s important.

However, the app has a certain je ne sais quoi. It’s quirky and novel, and that’s valuable. It was good for a function where I wanted something special and had time to troubleshoot. I would use it again in that situation, but I wouldn’t always use it.

And, no matter what, it always plays at 10% volume. In that function where I wanted something special, it didn’t matter, since no one was supposed to hear the sound. But, it was frustrating in the presentation where I had to play some audio to supplement my talk. No one could hear it, and I couldn’t alter the volume. It was frustrating, especially since the app was crashing.

I guess this app idea is really just self-deprecation for my less-than-perfect coding ability at this point in my life.
