For those who have not seen it: I'm not going to link it, and I'm not going to describe it. Essentially an American said that he had purchased a Chinese AI-powered sex doll that he could call in order to get her to say things that he wanted to hear her say.

It got picked up by a bunch of media outlets as a real thing, including CNN and the New York Times. I'd say that it was possible that it was fake, and people latched onto that as if I was claiming that it was certain that it was fake.

Well, from what I have heard, it was confirmed to be fake this late morning. She was claiming that the doll had a hard drive, WiFi, and etc, even though third-party reports said that she didn't have any of those features. And now, according to someone who I cannot name because they are not in the public eye and they don't want their information out there, she was exposed as a liar when she was caught purchasing a $350 speech device and saying that it was from the doll.

Not hard to believe. This is the era where the people who are said to be the most educated of all time think that a bunch of numbers on a screen can be used as currency, after all.
