I just got yelled at for refusing to babysit.

I teach high school and the sub was out sick today so they had to move teachers around to cover classes. My principal moved me to a study hall which is usually run by the sub.<br><br>I’m sick and have been tested for COVID and am waiting for my results. I told my principal who promised no close contact with students yesterday. Well, when the sub is out our principal usually supervises study hall himself. So now I’m covering study hall. The principal was no where to be found and I had no support. <br><br>I am absolutely fucking furious. This is completely inappropriate and I am going to die. The principal has put me in harm’s way just because he can’t babysit seniors that aren’t even allowed to be there in the first place. <br><br>I demanded he come to the room I was in and when he got there he was like “well you can just supervise.” And I’m like “nope, I’m sick, I am not risking my health for your poor planning skills.” My principal pissed and pissed and told me that I was causing a disturbance and refusing a directive. I’m like “fuck off.” He got mad I cursed and told me I was being insubordinate. <br><br>So I got pissed off and called my sick leave hotline and told them I was sick and would not be coming in for the rest of the semester. I will now be out for the next two weeks. <br><br>I never get sick leave so this was perfect timing. The students clapped for me and my principal full on lost it. He got red in the face and started yelling at me. I walked out. I called my union rep. I’m now driving up to my union rep’s office to file a complaint. <br><br>Fuck you if you make sick teachers do anything. Fuck you if you make teachers babysit. I am so fucking done. This is the last straw and I am so fucking grateful that I got this call because now I get to rest and I don’t have to go into that shit hole for two weeks and babysit a group of idiots who can’t do online school to save their life.
