CMV: The 5th of July 2020 is going to be a very weird day in the United States.

I believe that the day after American Independence Day is going to be a major turning point for the United States in 2020. I think on that day there are going to be so many people out partying, celebrating, and just generally being social on July 4th that we are going to see a huge spike in cases of COVID-19 in 2 weeks. This is because all these people will be going out without masks, in large groups, and into crowded bars and restaurants. I believe the lack of strict enforcement of lockdowns and social distancing guidelines in the United States are going to cause so many people to feel comfortable going out in public without taking the proper precautions against the virus. I believe that our country is going to see a massive second wave of infections around 2 weeks after July 4th, which will lead to a second lockdown, quarantines, and a second wave of massive unemployment from small businesses failing and closing. I believe that this will all culminate in political and civil unrest on a large scale. I believe all these points are reasonably well supported by history and evidence; the 1918 pandemic had three waves, with the second wave being the deadliest. The 1918 pandemic led to widespread quarantine, which led to widespread discontent (a google search for "pandemic riots" will give you tons of instances of this). I believe this is a well reasoned and supportable conclusion.<br><br>NOW PLEASE CHANGE MY VIEW!!!
