CMV: Joe Biden is the worst candidate the democratic party could have chosen

This is a fairly rare sentiment on the internet, so I am excited to hear opposing views and why I am wrong. I’ll break my reasoning down into 4 categories; (health, generational/political appeal, likability and policy stance) why I think *Joe Biden is the worst candidate the democratic party could have chosen:*

**Health and wellness;** Biden is widely regarded as one of the least healthy presidents in recent memory with heart problems, aneurysms and hyroid issues (apologies if I couldn’t correctly google all of his ailments and I know he is not alone in having health issues in DC) in addition to being widely regarded as one of the least healthy presidents in recent memory. He is of course no trump in terms of body and mind rot, but that isn’t exactly the bar I’m setting for presidents. Additionally, if you think he would be able to serve a second term (and not die in office midway through a first term) then I have a bridge to sell you. In essence, the democratic party has just spent the last year and a half begging people to vote for Kamala Harris.

**Generational and political appeal**; sure, joe biden is eloquent enough in his ability to speak and speak well, but he is a fundamentally out of touch politician. Being pro Lockheed martin and big pharma and previously being against cannabis legalisation has made him *extremely unpopular* with millennials and gen-z (who make up a huge segment of the voting population and are disproportionately represented here of course) and his lack of either popular or academic knowledge of *any subject* is staggering- and his willingness to whip out his bootstraps-esque anecdotal life story at a moments notice makes my skin crawl.

**Likability**; a *lot* of this has to do with the previous two paragraphs, but I can’t imagine anyone likes the man, and his ‘likability’ is overstated by mainstream pundits. Sure, he isn’t Bill Clinton, but he is also very obviously not Barack Obama in terms of cultural cache and likability. His *shocking lack of any semblance of a filter* is also of huge concern, in this age where “the president did/said another deplorable thing” is a weekly headline, can you imagine the right having a field day with this man in office? Headlines writes themselves, a *lot* of people would be shocked at how much of a PR disaster this guy would be.

**Policy**; this is the one I think he is perhaps the least egregious on, but is still an extremely bad choice either way. He is largely a *centrist* and without going into a whole centristbad type diatribe, I think his Obama-era policies implemented today would be inadequate (although I guess this is the best we can hope for in a president in the current political climate). His *shocking lack of both self and worldly awareness* when it comes to policy is also extremely apparent, in that he thinks that he can win by IGNORING issues like climate change, student loan reform and the like. As a side note, if you think that biden will surprise everybody with some Obama-esque liberal policies once he’s in office, I have another bridge to sell you.

So there we have it, that’s my rant on why I think that joe biden is the **worst** candidate that the democratic party could have chosen for the 2020 election.
