I want to make a language for my world, what are the basic steps to follow?

Hey everyone, my lores' getting to the point where it needs to have a language of its own. Never done this before, so I'm looking for basic advice on what to do. I tried a conlang generator but found the results lacking. I'd like to do something by myself, as it feels more fun that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.#####
