How not to get "bricked" by LLMs

A lot of people here are criticizing people who are overusing LLMs, but I think there's a bit of misunderstanding of *what the problem is.* Yes, people should use them more judiciously. But I don't think that's the root issue. Based on what I've seen from *myself* when using these tools, I don't think that's what's causing us to become more automated. I've been doing the following from day one.

Don't use your *own* memory or your *own* attention to do things. Use the LLMs to do things for you. But once you have a result, don't simply apply it. *Use your own thinking to analyze the result.* I.E., 1) Find something you want to do. 2) Use ChatGPT to do it. 3) Use your own thinking to evaluate the results.

Why is this important? The reason people are becoming *less aware* is because they aren't using their *own thinking* when using these tools. Awareness is basically just a combination of being able to use your own thinking, using your own memory, and using your own attention. So when you use these tools, aren't doing any of those things. The more you use them without thinking about the results, the less aware you are. And yes, I've caught myself being less aware when I've been using them too much. But I've also noticed I can put myself back into a state of heightened awareness by doing what I just described.

But this has a consequence. The more you do this, the more you realize how much more intelligent these AI systems will become than us. I mean, if I'm strictly doing things I couldn't do on my own, then I'm guaranteed to be outsmarted by the AI. So, the smarter you get about how to use these tools, the more you realize how much *dumber* you are than the LLMs. And that's why I think people are panicking. Because we want to actually be more intelligent than the AI systems. Nobody wants to think of themselves as "dumb." But if you focus on strictly using your own thinking, even with using the AI systems, then you are still in control of your awareness and your thinking. You aren't becoming a robot by using them. You may even become *more* intelligent by using them, but you will still be strictly more intelligent for your ability to think.
