I ghosted my bf because I found a dark website and now I'm getting messages from police

Warning: this will be graphic. Please remember I was only 19 when this happened and I have no idea how I fell into such an awful rabbit hole. I now know that the porn I was looking at was wrong. I can only tell you that I was in the mindset to be extremely horny 24/7 and I was creeping closer and closer to dark and disturbing porn (Let’s just say it wasn’t the vanilla stuff) and I was also just literally scrolling and saw the name of the website in the comments of a porn video. I don’t remember what it was, but it was enough for me to go and see what it was. Now I don’t know what you think of when you hear dark web, but from my research it seems like people have no idea what it is. It’s not just a website at the end of the tunnel like it’s always depicted. The dark web is an entire search engine full of these sub websites and you can access it by only using a specific link from a regular search engine. It took me awhile to find the link to access the dark web because I was using a university laptop (the university name was generic) and they blocked access to certain websites. It seemed like I accessed a website by following a hyperlink from a certain porn video. (Again I have no idea how I ended up there but at the time I was searching for disturbing content). <br><br>I stared at it for at least 10 minutes before I clicked on it. Once I did, it opened and it was like a social media website. It had a feed and you could like and comment on posts. I scrolled through it and I gasped and liked [for some reason] every post I saw. There were graphic images of dead people, injured people, and people who had been involved in accidents. There were also videos of like beheadings, people being cooked alive, and other graphic videos. I found all of this extremely hot and I had no idea why. I started to click on the different sub categories on the website and went on the cannibal section and clicked on cannibal name. It sent me to a profile with an image of a guy that looked my age. It had a bunch of links to different programs and software at the top of the page. I clicked on it and it said it was spam. The only thing I remember from his profile is that it said he is on the US’s most wanted list. (Let me just remind you again that I was 19 when this all happened and I have no idea how I ended up where I did). One of his liked posts had a graphic image of a man who died and his bf sent it to him. The post had a bunch of likes and I was the only girl to like it. The guy messaged me and said that he noticed I was a girl. (Kind of weird that he knew that because I didn’t specify in my profile). I messaged him back and we started to talk about cannibalism. He said that he is a cannibal. I didn’t believe it at first, but he sent me graphic images of him chopping up body parts. At that point I believed it. He started to talk about how he wanted to chop me up and eat me. I know this sounds insane, but at the time it turned me on and I was aroused by it. He started to ask me about my daily routine and what I did on an average day. He asked me where my school was located and what city I lived in. It turned me on and I thought it was hot and I wanted him to come and chop me up. I know now that I was in a weird state of mind. He said he lived in an entirely different state and couldn’t come where I was. I know now that this could be a lie at the time I didn’t know that. The conversation went on for days and then suddenly he disappeared. Two days later I got a call from an unknown number and I picked it up. The man on the phone said he was a police officer and I needed to come down to the station right away. He didn’t tell me why, but he said that I had to come immediately. He gave me the address of the station and I told him I would pick him up. I got in my car and drove to the station. When I got there there were 3 police officers; 2 male, 1 female. They asked me to sit down and I sat next to the female cop. She was nice and asked me if I was okay. I said I was fine and they fired off a bunch of questions about the cannibal website and how I had been talking to a cannibal and how dangerous it was. They asked me if I knew he was wanted in the US. I said no (which is true, his profile didn’t say that anywhere, but I assume it was listed in the comments of the post I liked). Then they asked me to describe what I looked like and they went to my dorm and found out that I was a student there and that I was underage. They said that I was putting myself at risk by talking to a potentially dangerous man and that I shouldn’t use dark websites and that I could get in serious trouble by talking to criminals. Then they let me go and said that I didn’t need to come down to the station again and that I should be careful. I was shook and I ghosted my boyfriend for 3 weeks because I was so nervous and I was stared at him like he was going to kill me. <br><br>I don’t get how they found me so easily because I was only talking to him. I didn’t know his name. I didn’t know anything about him. When he disappeared I got an email address and I contacted him and he confirmed that he had been caught and arrested. I don’t know how they found out I was talking to him.
