CMV: It is perfectly acceptable to take a sick day off of work and not tell your employer the reason.

I had to argue this in the comments of a post about literally anything on r/AskReddit earlier today, so I thought I would bring it here as well. I think it's completely acceptable to take a sick day off of work and not tell your employer what is wrong. Companies do not deserve to know your personal or intimate details, and it is not your fault that you cannot do what your employer is paying you for. By contrast, your employer is just there to write the paycheck, the fact that you cannot work doesn't change that you can't work. Let's change my view, folks.
