I’ve been lurking on this sub for a while, and I think I have a pretty good idea of what you guys believe in and what your opinions are on most things related to the 2nd amendment, guns and gun control. I’ve also been active and following gun control subs, like r/guncontrol, and have a good idea of what they believe in.

What I have realized is that you guys may have a massive misconception about what gun control actually is. **At least 90% of the people in these gun control subs don’t want to ban all guns.** They don’t want to take away your right to bear arms and defend yourself. They don’t want to disarm you.

What they do want is stricter gun control laws. Everyone is aware of the statistic that the USA has the highest rate of gun related deaths in the entire developed world. We all know that the highest cause of death for children in the USA is being shot with a gun. Strict gun control laws have been shown to greatly reduce these numbers.

If you want to continue to own guns, that’s fine. But the people in the gun control subs believe that it should be more difficult to obtain a gun. They believe you should have a license showing you are capable of owning a gun, you should have regular mental and physical health checks, you should have safe and secure storage of your guns, etc. They don’t want to take away your guns. They want to make sure that you can’t just give your gun to your friend, your child, etc whenever you want. They want to make sure you aren’t a risk to yourself or to others.

Gun control is not about banning all guns, it’s about making sure people that own guns are capable of owning them.
