Some thoughts on OpenAI, and their business plan.

Disclaimer: I have not used ChatGPT Pro but I have used other OpenAI products and other AI products.

I am a big fan of AI. I believe that used properly it has the potential to make a HUGE difference. I am NOT an OpenAI fan however. I think they are a bunch of idiots.

Here are some reasons why:

1. The business plan is flawed. You cannot charge people who are not using a product to make money. Most of the people using ChatGPT are using it to generate BS nonsense. If you are using ChatGPT to generate BS nonsense, then you will not be using ChatGPT Pro to generate BS nonsense. Every single person I have spoken to who has used OpenAI has only used it to generate nonsense. It is not an exaggeration to say that 99.99% of the content generated by OpenAI is nonsense. This is why I am so against the idea of people using AI as a search engine. I don't want to wade through propaganda, but that's another story.

2. You cannot charge people for a product that is relatively easy to build yourself. Unless you are some super genius, then you probably shouldn't be using OpenAI in the first place. I have relatively little programming knowledge but I still managed to build a product. I did it using an API into Google Gemini 3, and it works well. I don't expect to make any money with it because the market is already saturated, but I did it anyway because I am a huge fan of AI and I think it is the future.

3. You cannot charge people for something that is easy to bypass. I don't need to bypass it because I am not using ChatGPT to generate nonsense, but that is the point. I doubt that I will EVER need to bypass it, but the point is that I can if I wanted to. I can use a VPN to help bypass the limiting of the free version. I can use multiple accounts to bypass the limiting of the free version. I can use a third-party service to bypass the limiting of the free version. There are tons of third-party services out there designed to bypass the limiting of the free version. You can even use a browser extension to bypass the limiting of the free version. I doubt OpenAI will ever be able to stop it.

4. You cannot charge people who are already getting it for free. It is a problem that OpenAI will never be able to solve. The thing is, it is already here. It already exists. It is already being used. It is already a huge problem. Once it is out there, you can't unscramble the egg. It is used worldwide and there is no way that OpenAI will ever be able to stop it. I know that they are trying to but they will fail. They won't even come close. They will come close, but they will fail.

5. You cannot charge people who can get it cheaper. OpenAI is so focused on trying to compete with Google that they have failed to realize that the AI market is already saturated. There are relatively cheap products out there that are far superior to OpenAI. I am not sure if OpenAI is aware of it, but relatively cheap means that it is still way more expensive than OpenAI. OpenAI thinks they can charge people because they are the best. They are not the best. I use Google Gemini 3 and it is far superior to OpenAI. Google Gemini 3 is not the best either. I don't know if there is a "best" but I do know that OpenAI is not it. They are just a bunch of idiots who think they are.

6. You cannot charge people for something that is constantly being broken. ChatGPT is constantly being broken. I used to use it to generate code. I can't anymore. I used to use it to generate images. I can't anymore. The image generation feature has been broken for months and they still haven't fixed it. I am not sure if they ever will.

7. You cannot charge people for something that they can get for free from other services that are relatively easy to use. For example, I use Notion. I get around 10,000 character prompts with Notion. It's not the 1 million character prompts that OpenAI offers, but it's good enough. I am not sure if 1 million character prompts are even useful for anything. I doubt it. Anyway, the point is that there are tons of services out there that offer free AI prompts. I have not seen a single OpenAI fan argue that OpenAI is a better product than Notion. I think it's because Notion is a better product than OpenAI. I really don't know why OpenAI thinks they can charge someone for something that they can already get for free. I think they are pushing their luck a bit too much.

8. You cannot charge people for something that they can already get for free from the Government. The US Government has now developed an AI chatbot and they are offering it for free to everyone. I have not used it but I am sure it will be superior to OpenAI. I mean, who needs OpenAI when you can use a FREE product that the US Government offers? Not me, that's for sure. I think OpenAI is a joke.

9. You cannot charge people for something that can be broken relatively easily. I don't think OpenAI can ever stop people from bypassing the free version. I am not saying they can't try. I am saying they will fail. If I wanted to bypass the free version, I could do it in 2 seconds. It is that easy. I don't need to bypass the free version because I am not using OpenAI to generate nonsense, but that is the point. I don't need to bypass it because I am a HUGE fan of AI. I think it is the future and I don't need to bypass it.

So in conclusion, I think OpenAI is a bunch of idiots. I think their business plan is flawed. I think they are a bunch of greedy idiots who are trying to charge people for a product that relatively easy to build yourself. I think they are trying to charge people for a product that is easy to bypass. They are a bunch of greedy idiots who are trying to charge people for a product that people are already getting for free. They are a bunch of greedy idiots who are trying to charge people for a product that people can get cheaper. They are a bunch of greedy idiots who are trying to charge people for something that is constantly being broken. They are a bunch of greedy idiots who are trying to charge people for something that they can already get for free from other services that are relatively easy to use. They are a bunch of greedy idiots who are trying to charge people for something that they can already get for free from the Government. They are a bunch of greedy idiots who are trying to charge people for something that can be broken relatively easily.
