I am a gun manufacturer, before you celebrate, I don’t make cool stuff. I make cheap bb/pellet guns. I am struggling to make guns right now, and don’t know how we can make it work. How can you people provide cheap bb guns to the masses?

I have been making bb guns for 30 years, but this is the first time I really don’t know how we can make it. We have been out of stock of our best selling bb guns for 9 months now. We are doing everything we can to hire more employees, but it’s impossible. Our location is between two prisons, and there is not very many people in the area already, and most everyone already has a job. We have even hired inmates, but that has been a fail. Our factory is at capacity and running 3 shifts, and we still can’t keep up. We have hired 3rd party factories in our country, and out, and they are also at capacity. We have pretty much given up on hiring, as we have hired dozens of people in the last 2 years and they don’t last very long. <br><br>The reason we can’t hire is the same reason that we can’t produce enough product. People can make more money not working than working, and if they do work, no one wants to work in a factory. In a country with over a billion people, you would think that there are at least a few that would want to work. <br><br>We have tried automation, but it is just not possible for most of our products. People say “well you should make better products”, but better products require better workers, and it’s the same issue. We have tried training, but it doesn’t help. I am not an idiot, I have done everything I can think of, and nothing is working. We have been paying employees 3x what we used to pay, but that doesn’t help hire people. <br><br>I am sure most of you have noticed that bb guns are a bit harder to get, and when you can get them, they are more expensive. That will not be changing anytime soon. I even doubt that it will ever get back to how it was. We are doing everything we can to produce what we can when we can, but at this rate, I don’t know how much longer we can keep doing this. <br><br>That is why I am asking you, how do you hire people in this day and age? I have been paying my employees pretty well, but it’s still hard to find anyone. People say that if I pay more, I can hire more people, but I am pretty sure that is not true. I am not going to pay someone $40,000 a year to hire someone when I am pretty sure I could pay someone $80,000 a year and have the same amount of hire stay time. We have been offering people free housing just out side the city if they want to move, but that’s not working either. <br><br>I am at a loss. I have been doing everything I can to keep this company alive and we are barely holding on. I don’t know what to do.
