CMV: "Voting out politicians" is a lie designed to make American citizens accept the status quo by giving them the illusion of control.

I've been an avid politically active person for most of my life. I've run campaigns for politicians, volunteered for politicians, and I've even run for office myself. After years of doing this, I realized that the best outcome I could produce was to exchange one piece of shit politician for another. But this time, it's "my piece of shit politician."<br><br> <br><br>I believe that the best way to change the minds of Americans is through grassroots direct action. By my definition, that includes protests, boycotts, strikes, blockades, and occupations. The outcome of the direct action should culminate in education and community building, if it doesn't...then it was all for naught.<br><br> <br><br>I truly believe that if we can shift public perception to be more accepting of these types of actions, we could force real change. If you don't agree, then you can change my view! Please be respectful, I'm a human just like you, and I'm trying to engage in good faith discourse.<br><br> <br><br>EDIT: I'm traveling to go protest an oil pipeline with some friends.
