I am a 52 year old woman and recently widowed. My husband, Tom, passed away about 3 months ago in an accident at work. I am still grieving and my family and friends have been great during this time.

Tom’s family and I have been having some issues, though. Tom’s dad and his step mom wanted his remains in an urn. But Tom requested to be cremated and thrown into the ocean. He loves the ocean and we spent countless times there while growing and old together.

So I did that. I divided the remains between me, his sister and my sister and threw the rest of the remains in the ocean as he requested.

His family called me up to ask for the remains and I told them that we did what Tom wanted. They said that I was selfish and disrespectful for not giving them the remains of their son. I said that I am just honoring his wishes and that they have been shitty towards him while he was alive.

They have been hounding my about this for over a month and I don’t know how to end this.

AITA?
