My niece is getting married at the end of the month. Her bridal shower was last weekend. I got her the same gift I have gotten her for her last birthday, graduation, and Christmas - a puzzle.

When I first started buying her puzzles she was like "really???" but after the first time doing one she was hooked. She would text me how many pieces it was and what the theme was the minute she opened any of my gifts. They both have a TV with two consoles on the floor in their bedroom. And a desk in the corner with a PC on it. That desk was covered in the 1000 piece Disney movie scenes puzzle I got her for Christmas.

Her fiance proposed to her a few months ago. I waited for them to live together before buying her something different. When I saw them put the desk in their bedroom I was like "oh perfect, time for a new puzzle!" But then her bridal shower was coming up really fast. So I decided to buy her one and have been trying to wait for them to finish the Disney one. I didn't want to bring an unopened gift to the bridal shower. I wanted to bring her a gift she's started.

I finally opened the gift I got her for the bridal shower. It was a 1000 piece Disney couples themed puzzle. I spent a little over a week finishing it. I had to bring a completed puzzle to the bridal shower. I don't know how to frame a puzzle and I didn't spend almost two weeks of work to just throw it out. So I decided to bring it.

She was very clearly not expecting it. She had a few cards and kitchen utensils and that kind of stuff stacked up. She said it looked nice. Her mom kind of rolled her eyes and said "wow, you sure do love puzzles"

My brother in law messaged me the next day like "dude, what the fuck was that? She's not a kid anymore, she's getting fucking married. Grow up." He has a big issue with me being autistic. I tried to explain that it's her favorite thing and I put a lot of work into it but he wasn't having it.

AITA for giving her the gift I feel she'll appreciate the most just because it's not a traditional gift?
