CMV: If you did not attend the protest, you should not loot.

I was a fervent supporter of the original protests that started a week ago. I was proud of the bravery and sincerity of the people who were protesting for justice and equality.<br><br>When the protests turned violent and looting started to occur, I was conflicted. I was disgusted by the destruction of private property and pissed off by the fact that other people were taking advantage of the situation to steal shit.<br><br>I have since come to the conclusion that I will not support the looting whatsoever. However, I do agree with those who are continuing to protest, even if it is peacefully. If you loot, you are part of the problem and should be treated as a criminal rather than a protester. Looters are also ruining the movement that the protesters are trying to create.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>EDIT: This is a very difficult conversation to have with strangers in an online forum. I am very sorry if I've pissed you off. I appreciate the discussion that I've had in this thread.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>EDIT NO. 2: I've had a few people send me death threats and other violent messages. I would appreciate it if you did not send me hateful messages. I'm just a normal person like you who is trying to have a discussion on reddit. I am not an enemy.
