Trigger warning: abduction, sexual abuse.

I’ve got a story for the man in the grocery store that tried to abduct me on 02/16/18.

I don't often brag, but I'm a brilliant brilliant man. Once, I convinced a legitimate abduction from being completed by using my wit. I have no idea how or why I formulated such a plan, but it sounds really, really good for a 1st grader's reasoning. Maybe it's the brain's way of coping with the situation? Nevertheless, it happened. I was six at the time (I'm 11 now).

Our family's old church was in a rough part of town that was particularly known for gangs, drugs, and abductions. One day, a police officer visited the church to inform the congregation that there was an abductor of children in the area.

He described the vehicle as a green colored van, with an open side panel. To this day, I still don't know why the hell someone was allowed to drive around with an open panel on their vehicle. However, I digress. The officer made it clear that we were to never get in someone's car unless we recognized the driver, and to never wander off alone.

We were averse to this advice, but you know how kids are. It wasn't long before we forgot the advice. At church, there was an area for kids to play in, where we could "hang out" if we didn't feel like attending the sermon (which was often preached by my grandpa).

One day, when I was 6, was a day like any other at the church. I was in the kid's area, doing the usual stuff we did there, and it was there that I met him.

He looked like one of the other church goers, but I knew he wasn't one. He was dressed in a white shirt and blue jeans, and one of his eyes was gray and cloudy. He smiled with the most peculiar teeth, which were stained yellow, but also speckled black.

He lured me outside with candy, which was something he knew I wanted. Once we got outside, I saw his green van parked, with one side panel open. I looked at the van, and he looked where I was looking, but said nothing.

He asked me if I wanted more candy, and told me to hop in the van. Now, I **did** remember what the police officer said from a few months ago.

I told him that I could only go into the van if he told me my mom's name. I'm still not sure why I did that. I think it was because I knew he didn't know my mom, which could lead him to mention his own mother, or the name of some random woman. I didn't know what I was doing though, I just did it. I decided I would only get in the van if he **did** know my mom's name. For some reason, that made me feel safe.

He paused for a moment, "I don't know your mommy," he said. He looked dumbfounded, almost as if he was expecting me to just trust him. I told him I was going back inside, and it was then that he looked worried. He tried to stop me, but I was already running toward the entrance to the church. I didn't stop until I found my family.

I told them about the incident, and my grandfather told the other church goers. They tried to hunt him down, but he already put the van in drive and sped off. It was too late.

The reason I know what his teeth looked like, and his eyes, is because I was face to face with him, but still in range of the people in the church. I think he didn't know how close he was, because he didn't seem to care. It was my brilliant plan, and my boldness, that saved my life that day.

I can't put into words what it feels like to look into the eyes of a man you know is capable of killing you, of sexually abusing you. That's what makes this the most terrifying moment of my life. Looking at him, his speckled black teeth, his gray eye. I get cold chills thinking about this moment, and I hope I never see him again.

Sir, you failed to abduct me, and I'm the reason why. Should you find this post, and should you have the balls to do it again, it won't end in your favor.

Edit: Wow! I've never seen a post blow up like this before, and it's my first time posting here. I'm glad you guys enjoyed my story :)
