Hockey, football, basketball, soccer, it doesn't matter. The head coach is just that: the head of the coaching team. If the players don't perform it's the head coach's fault. If the assistant coaches don't perform, it's the head coach's fault. If the team owners don't spend enough money on the team, it's the head coach's fault. If the Janitor doesn't do a good enough job, it's the head coach's fault. If the weather follows a long term climate pattern that doesn't favor the team in some way, it's the head coach's fault.

When a coach is fired, always bet on the team to get better.
