CMV: The term "gamergate" should be banned from social media and major online communities

I've been on Chambers for over a year now, and have seen so, so many irrelevant posts turn into just another pointless argument about sexism, feminism, and video games. I think the term gamergate should be banned from all social media platforms, as well as most online forums that aren't specifically dedicated to the topic. It is a culture war that is a waste of time to participate in, and is designed to oust the voice of men from the conversation; ultimately, to marginalize their sexual interests. Feminists will call me a misogynist for saying this, but their movement is not about gender equality; it's about female empowerment.
The term "gamer gate" originally referred to a movement within the gaming community to make the media outlets that cover video games more transparent about the links between their criticism, the companies they cover, and the advertising money they receive. Now it is a cultural divide; a line drawn between those who support the feminist movement, and those who are critical of it. Most often now it's a way that feminists try to shame or discredit their ideological opponents. I can see why I might be downvoted for this post, but I would love to hear your disagreements.

EDIT: First, thanks for all the upvotes! Second, some of you have some truly twisted beliefs about feminism and women in general. I can't believe I came across individuals who really think that men are often discriminated against by women. You guys need to have a serious look at the communities you're a part of.

EDIT: First, thanks for all the upvotes!
