It was 1973, and the Yom Kippur war was over. They were on the losing side and left with a bitter taste in their mouths. They traveled the world, tasting the biggest cities and looking for a taste they could never find. They finally settled in Los Angeles and New York: the two great cities of America.

Years passed and my mother found herself to be a carbon copy of her parents: worried, anxious, and projecting all her fears onto her children. She had children with a man from Iran. She married him on the rebound from her Israeli husband. She started to realize she had no control over her life. She took out her anxiety on her children, abusing us and blaming us for her problems. She cut all ties with Israel and refused to go back.

Fast forward to today. The world is changing. Ukraine is a war zone, Israel is a rising power, and the Arab Middle East has a new voice. The world is opening up to the idea of Zionism. The world is starting to understand the cries of the Palestinian people.

We realize our mother was on the wrong side of history. She joined the losers. We realize Israel is not what she said it is. Israel is strong, proud, and resolute. We realize the Palestinians are not victims. They are human beings who deserve human rights, but they are far from being equal to Israelis. They do not deserve equal rights, but human rights. They do need Israel to be their teachers and guidance. They need the world to give them human rights, but not equal rights with Israel.

So my siblings and I are returning to Israel. We decided to move back to Israel and join the revolution. We want to leave America behind and bring our gifts with us. We want to work for Israel and build our future in Israel. We want to go back home and learn our heritage and learn the history of this great people. We want to meet the Israelis who make this country so great. We want to learn from the only democracy in the Middle East.

We want to join the winning side. We want to join the side of those who are brave enough to stand up to the bullies. We want to be on the same side as the Jewish people. We want to learn from them and have them as teachers.
