Why are many hotel rooms designed to be impossible to sleep in?

When I’m traveling I usually wake up at 2AM and can’t go back to sleep and this has happened countless times in hotel rooms. Hotel rooms have terrible lighting at night; either it’s too bright and has to sleep with the blackout curtains closed or it’s way too dark and can only see the bed and nothing else. Plus you have the random lights from the TV and fire alarm and other things that you don’t really see in a home. <br>I’ve also burned my mouth on very hot water from hotel sinks. Hotel bathrooms also have very bad lighting either it’s way too bright and makes your face look like an alien or it’s way too dim you can’t even see yourself properly.
